Kids Network's Cure for Winter Blues

Finally back to school! I’m sure that was the thought on every parent’s mind after the extra long winter break. Being stuck inside is never fun, especially for kids who seem to have an abundance of energy. Kids Network is no exception to that; with frigid temperatures and snow packed playgrounds our kids don’t always have the opportunity to go outside. As always, kids have the option of playing group games at their sites, but in order to help combat the winter blues and to provide some variety we are giving Kids Network sites new recreational programs.

Each site will be given two separate weeks over the course of the semester to utilize two new programs. Programs range from giant interactive board games for teaching basketball and soccer skills, to indoor Frisbee golf, and speed stacking! Our intent with these programs is to give our kids new opportunities for recreation while being safe and having fun.

Kids Network families and employees,

I just wanted to take a moment to extend my gratitude for the dedication all of you have shown in regards to recent Kids Network operational modifications due to inclement weather conditions occurring during the past month.

I understand that recent school cancellations coupled with winter break consolidation has created stress in terms of flexibility within many of your personal life obligations. I, along with Kids Network Administration and Millard Public Schools Foundation staff, truly appreciate your positive response to recent scheduling and operational anomalies.

Thanks again for the dedication our employees have shown to our families, as well as, the understanding our families have demonstrated resulting from recent weather created circumstances.

Here’s to all of you and too much warmer weather!

Sincerely,

Mark Beller
Kids Network Program Director

"The Weather Outside is Frightful"

I know everyone is getting a little tired of hearing about the weather, considering we seem to have a large snow storm once a week, but I wanted to share some photos of the recent snow storms that have left us even speechless!

Hard to believe, but it seems as if the snow has even lost is popularity with the children. Imagine being 3ft tall, looking out a window that used to bring excitement to see a playground filled with toys and trikes, but now you can barely see daylight as most of the playground is covered by mounds of snow. At this rate will be lucky if the snow is gone by June!

Because we have not been able to get outside, we have since decided to bring the snow in. We will be filling our sensory tables with snow to provide children opportunities to play and create with the snow indoors. Oh, and my guess is we will have enough snow for each of our classrooms to participate :)
