Kids Network Safety/Security

As we head down the backstretch of 2009-2010 Kids Network school-year operations, Millard Public Schools Foundation Administration would like to thank our families and employees for their efforts in assisting to strive for increased safety and security for the children at our 25 Kids Network operational locations. The following are several measures our employees of our program have taken to achieve this goal:
  • KN employees have been required to dress in standardized uniforms

  • KN employees are required to attend ‘Establishing and Maintaining Boundaries Training’ to become educated in regards to appropriate adult/child interactions and relationships

  • Measures such as increased staffing, boundaries education and site-specific policies have been enacted to avoid children and staff being placed in one-on-one situations

  • Formation of a Kids Network Safety Committee

  • Development of a site safety orientation required for all employees

  • Increased user information required on snow day registration paperwork

  • Revisions to sign-in/out processes

  • Universal protocol for table and hand washingPeriodic special topic trainings by MPSF Administration and KN Safety CommitteeMonthly site checks by Kids Network Administration

Thanks to everyone's cooperation and support increating a fun and safe environment for the children of Kids Network!

Kids Network's Cure for Winter Blues

Finally back to school! I’m sure that was the thought on every parent’s mind after the extra long winter break. Being stuck inside is never fun, especially for kids who seem to have an abundance of energy. Kids Network is no exception to that; with frigid temperatures and snow packed playgrounds our kids don’t always have the opportunity to go outside. As always, kids have the option of playing group games at their sites, but in order to help combat the winter blues and to provide some variety we are giving Kids Network sites new recreational programs.

Each site will be given two separate weeks over the course of the semester to utilize two new programs. Programs range from giant interactive board games for teaching basketball and soccer skills, to indoor Frisbee golf, and speed stacking! Our intent with these programs is to give our kids new opportunities for recreation while being safe and having fun.
